What is the GME?

The GME (Geocaching Multi Event) is an – as you might expect- event for all geocachers. It is a great opportunity to meet other geocachers and find out who’s behind a nickname. During the GME there is obviously time to geocache, since we make sure that around 10 new caches are placed in the neighbourhood every year. And thanks to the previous GMEs, there are a lot of old caches that you can do. We have a few special caches as well, among which a kids cache, a night cache and a “hé-wie-ben-jij-cache” (hey-who-are-you-cache), for which you’ll have to meet and cooperate with other teams. Furthermore you can visit the Goodiesshop (Dutch version of the groundspeak geocaching shop) to buy your geocaching gear such as stickers, ammoboxes, travelbugs and many more.

You obviously get hungry and thirsty from being outside the whole day. We offer you a large variety of drinks at our Erica-bar, such as coffee and tea, but also sodas, beer and whine. Our kitchen staff works hard to provide you with delicious sandwiches at lunchtime and a cold and warm buffet at dinner time, followed by a dessert buffet.

In 2003 we organised our first GME for just over 100 visitors. The past couple of years there were close to a thousand visitors, and this year we hope to welcome a similar amount of people. Despite these numbers, most people don’t experience the GME as crowded. There is place for everyone and it’s always a whole lot of fun!

Since 2007 the GME is classified as a MEGA event (internationally oriented and over 500 visitors). GME2007 was the first MEGA event of Europe ever!
